I never played WOW my self but i've seen others play it and i don't know which is better.

I played eq2 for 6 months. I payed $75 for the 6 months and then turned around and sold my acount for $940. I had the highest level with master spells and the best armor in the game. I was the 3rd richest in the game with 2232p 166g 827s 15c world wide and discovered about 15 armor peices for the first time world wide. I was in the 4th top raiding guild in the game.

Here's some screenies...

A tough guy requires 24 top level players with all master spells & the best armor that has to be farmed not made.

A Really hard contested.. i think we were the first to get to him and then fail. There was a 72 lock out and we went back and owned him and was the first to defeat!

Well, I've never played EQ or EQ 2, but I have watched a few people play it, and from what I can dissern, WoW is ALOT less time consuming. Since I haven't played both, I can't go into detail about the differences, but I can say that I am quite happy with WoW. Maybe this will help:

Shit, that was me that posted ^^^^ up there. Didn't see that Zero was still logged on at work. One thing to take into not about that article is that it was written directly after lauch, so some things have changed.

hahaha, DDD you usin a keylogger at work to discredit me? /jk

Well I have played both EQ (pre-luclin, everything after that killed the game) and EQ2. Now a lot of people will say WoW is an MMO on easy mode, partially true. The reason I say that is because of the lack of time sync required to advance to end game, it was designed for the casual gamer in mind, except for the high end game 40 man raids, which the Burning Crusade expansion changed to 20 and lower. (DDD correct me if I'm wrong)

In the original EQ level advancement was time consuming. Solo was doable, but once past lvl 12, a group was required for most classes to level(Necro and Shadowknight are the exceptions, their pet could tank for them and they high damage output). Achieving lvl 40 was an accomplishment to be recognized.

EQ2 I consider to be a mix between WoW and EQ. Sony tried to make a happy median for hardcore and casual alike. The thing really sets EQ2 apart from WoW would be ingame content. With 4 adventure packs and 3 expansion packs, new content is being constantly added, which helps to avoid the stagnant end game of lvl 60's being bored in Ironforge or Ogrimmar.

The 40 man raids of WoW were difficult, but I feel that the raids of EQ2 were more difficult (due to the fact you had more than 6 classes to choose from, raid setup required more forethought for different classes and understanding of more than the core classes).

Yeah, I like EQ2 though because you actually have to work. It was always hard being accepted into groups to get your leveling because of your class. They always wanted one tank with a ton of dps. I had a ton of fun with eq2!

nah man, I cut my teeth on EQ and loved it. It was just ridiculously hard to get going and figure everything out. Not much in the way of tutorials, luckily I had a friend who walked me through the basics. I love that game, but just don't have time to devote to it. Lets not forget it was called evercrack for a reason. PPL's real life suffered cuz of that game.

But what about all the chinese people who have suffered from farming gold for WoW?

And what about the guy that died from playing WoW? Haven't heard of anyone dieing from EQ or EQ2 (but if it did happen, let me know)

In Lineage2, one guy actually killed his friend over a sword they looted. Over a piece of Intellectual Property. I'm not sure about eq2, but I remember my guild doing a kind of "candle light vigil"(and hell no i didnt take part) for a guildie that played for 53 hours before collapsing from exhaustion and being sent to the hospital and later a rehab center. Not hating on WoW, but there were MMO's before and there will be MMO's after.

I'm not saying there wasn't or wont.... I've just heard more bad stuff bout wow than the others. However that may be due to me being more aware of MMO's now that I actually play. I did hear about the guy that killed his friend over an imaginary sword, but didn't recall what game that was from. I do know that there was a kid up at UMSL that got scurvy because he only drank/ate Mt. Dew and Ramen noodles over the summer while he played WoW (or so I've been told). That happened when it first came out.

Here are some things I wonder about MMO's or just games in general:
How many marriages have been broken over MMO's
How many people have been murdered over MMOs
What percentage of china's population farms gold
What percentage of WoW's pop falls into the above category
How many people have soiled themselves because they were too into the game
How many people have had "relationships" with other players
How many Parent/Child partners play MMOs
How many Husband/Wife couples play MMOs
What percentage of MMO players are like the comic book guy from the simpsons or the WoW guy with no life on south park

How many people have had "relationships" with other players[/list]

Let me add to that list.

How many people had their first run in with cybersex and dry heaved at the first line of text stating "I gently place my hand...."

I need a shower.

I have spent a lot of time in the summer on EQ2. I mean don't get me wrong when you are in the right guild and the guild you are in is the best on that server at the time and you have no one to really go against it's really a job to become the best and have your character suited top notch to give the guild a good name. I have gotten out of hand with EQ2. I would wake up on a monday morning around 8am and then be on until wednesday around 4am. I think that was the longest i've played.. It's more of like you in the best guild you want your character to have the nicest/strongest armor that the game provides and you have to devote a lot of time and let alone crafting level. I was out of control last summer with that damn game. I was becoming a obsessed gamer. It's not like you can log on for 2 hours because with 2 hours you can't even do anything. When you log into that damn game you are spending atleast 4 + hours. It's crazy how addictive it really can be and you not notice what it does to you. I have gotten so pissed before over a mythical loot but that's only because the people who "won" it couldn't even use it and end up selling for a ton. =( i love eq2 =( my g/f hated it lol. i tryed getting her to play... she gave in and made a char but then just said it was gay and stopped .. wish i could =(
