I remember some people talking about Prestige Mode for CoD meaning you can trade in your rank for an insignia. Well thanks to Wikipedia I found this little blurb stating that its not available for the PC version.

The highest attainable level is 55, which unlocks Prestige mode (which is only available for the Playstation 3 and Xbox 360 versions of the game). In Prestige mode, the player can trade in their rank and start over at level 1, in exchange for a special in-game insignia by their name.[7] The player can trade in their rank and start over at level 1 up to ten times, with the prestige insignia changing each time, effectively giving the player 605 total ranks to achieve.

Maybe if the CoD 4 PC community begs enough they can put Prestige Mode with a patch or something because that would be awesome. But as of now there is no Prestige Mode for us.

That would be nice...its not all about ranks but it might keep some people playin the game longer.

With PC, ranks are stored on your local PC (which is why there aren't "Ranked GSPs"). In Xbox and Playstation land, they are stored in their online components. So i doubt we'll see it, but who knows.

I'd like to see some sort of skill based ranking system. Instead of just basing it off points, they should have other requirements such as K/D, or K/D with a certain weapon. That way, you know that that level 55 general is really a general, and not just someone who had nothing else to do but rank up a shit ton!

Make sure to backup your 'players' folder every once in a while.

actually all general really means at least in this game is that that person has played a lot, not necessarily good.

yeah BUT a gernal is more likely to be better than a sergeant or something cause they might have gained those points quicker than the sergeant for the same amount of time. so its not the best way of determining skills, but its a rough guide
