scrap the processor. amd is much much much much better. i dont know how much more i can enphasize it. i suggest from alien ware the aurora 5500. more for less. aurora 7500 is pretty crazy too but i dont know if a few hundred dollars more is too much for you. in my opinion its worth it cus you will be able to hold on to it a couple years longer than the others cus of the dual graphics mother board. oh and also about the processors, amd is a much more flexible processor for great overclocking capabilities. you can get it running really fast.

screw alien ware, they charge too much, build it yourself with same parts and probably be 300$ cheaper. basically buying the brand.

1861 is pushing my budget majorly...I added up everything (new desk, chair, monitor, comp) and don't think i'm gonna go with an Alienware (too expensive).
Does anyone have any comments on a Dell (yes, i'm back looking at dell)?
please be specfic and have some facts...i found a good comp almost exactly the same things as the Alien one but for like 1600 with 160GB instead of 80GB Serial ATA 7,200 RPM w/8MB Cache

I had a dell and it was a good computer. Problem was, it was damn near impossible to upgrade. For example, the motherboard wasn't a standard size, didn't accept ram except the kind it had and wouldn't run a upgraded ATI video card. Great service though. What is left of the Dell, including the Pentium 4 processor, is in my attic.

i'm getting XP pro (thx for the reminder woody)...i looked for but couldn't find a AMD processor but have 1 question
what is the difference between
- Pentium® 4 Processor 630 with HT Technology (3GHz, 800FSB)
and
- Pentium® D Processor 830 with Dual Core Technology (3GHz, 800FSB)
is the dual core worth an extra $203 or should I get a dual core at 2.8GHz for only $75 dollars
