i figured out whars wrng wit my laptop

hey guys i think i fig. out whts wrng wit my laptop. i think dust is clogging the heatsink and is over heating my comp. does anyone know how to take apart a dell inspiron 1100?

i have dust clggin up my fans next to my heatsink too. but i just scrape it off with something small. my suggestion is geta screwdriver and unscrew all the screws remember where each one went and then clean ur heatsink and put it back to gether. :D

I wouldnt take the heat sink off....Get some compressed air and try blowing it all out.

Cold is right, DON'T REMOVE THE HEATSINK... Blow it out with air, and make sure your fan is working. For access to the CPU, try removing the keyboard, the CPU might be underthere without any screw removal needed. Also the Dell website should have a manual that diagrams where the screws are and where the CPU is.

yea, i know how to dissassemble my laptop now. i can use the compressed air, but i also gotta fix my microphone jack so ii might as well go buy some thermal liquid and clean off the heatsink while im at it. i got anti charge packagaes and shit, so i wont fuck up any parts. oh heres my specs for my peice o shit laptop:

2.4 Ghz Celeron(yuck!)
512mb ram
"Intel EXTREME graphics card"(wtf?)
onboard sound, onboard everything which makes it impossible to upgrade
god damn peice of shit..... and its only 6 mos. old!

Hey if that is only 6months old… check for warranty on it..…. So they can fix that mic jack… (sometimes they will just send out a new computer) worth a try...

Buck is right. I have 2 Dell laptops, and the have replaced one of them. Check to see what service you got with it. If you got home express, Dell sends you a box and postage, arranges pickup and has it back to you in 24 hours. Give it a try.
