WaW is Teyarch, MW is Activision. Activison can put much more men on their side of COD, and the end product shows that.

Semi-Correct... Activision is the publisher for BOTH WaW and MW. Infinity Ward is the developer of MW.
The plan is that with two seperate studios, they can plan on a new release once every other year, with each branch offset by 1 year. So, that means that MW would in essence release on odd numbered years (2007, 2009, 2011, etc.) and WaW in even number (2008, 2010, 2012, etc.). They also plan to keep both games using the same engine as each other to keep the technology between the games consistent. That way both games have the ability to be as good as each other and there is no problem with something say like physics being better in MW than WaW.

Right, my bad. EA is doing this with the NFS series, but with half the crew. Either way the main idea is a game a year. It also seems that WaW's updated graphics are limiting the access that people have, even on low settings. On all max however... it looks amazing.
Fighting on that offshore drilling rig would be crazy... I like how they did the video up until the end.

Activision owns Infinity Ward, that might be part of the confusion. They funded them and had an option to buy them after COD (original) was released -- and they did.
